Happy Birthday, America

Kids, water, boats, sun... FUN!

For ten years we've traveled to Wisconsin to celebrate the Fourth of July. This year we begin a new tradition with the Newhouses. Boating on Lake Waconia, with a concentration of RED ROCKET time aka F2.

What a blast! Click on the pics below for ACTION!

Minnehaha Falls

Minnehaha Falls

It was a perfect day!
As we traveled to Minneapolis, we played the ABC game and stopped at a corner bakery for a scrumptious midmorning snack. YUM! First we rented a bike. I did ALL the work. Katie tries to convince us that she steered most of the time. There is some truth to this, but what she fails to mention is how our lives were endangered during that time:)

We enjoyed some history about Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. He was the first settler in Minneapolis and wrote the Song of Hiawatha. I guess I didn't realize that Hiawatha saved Minnehaha from her father Nokomis. Interesting.

After biking for a (long) hour we slipped over to the bandshell/pavillioin where the kiddies performed a sit on the edge of my seat play, Little Red Riding Hood.

Finally, we made our way to the water!

Double click the pics below to see what the kids enjoy about the falls.

The pics below are links to video clips-- VERY short clips... more to come...

What is Life REALLY about?

Ahhhh, summer!

I meant to get this blog going earlier. Oh well, better late than never.
It's been great hanging out with Kali, CJ, Michaeal and Riley. We try to get our chores done before noon (actually before 10 am) so that we can get to the fun. After I returned home from New Orleans we've been busy.
On Kali's birthday we adventure down to the RR track for a scavenger hunt. The kids found some pretty cool items including the claw of a fox.
We've climbed and slid at Chutes and Ladders, swam at the beach and the pool next door. We ventured to Minnehaha Falls for a bike ride and a trek down the stream for a swim.
Kids are great. The innocence of their questions, "Why are they called 'seatbelts' and 'When will we get a pool?" have exhausted me.
Bottom line? Hang with a kid for a day and you'll remember what life is all about!
